GIVING BACK BY GIVING BLOOD
With the start of a new academic school year students feel a sense of excitement for what the year will bring them. The start of the year is full of many opportunities to become involved on campus and fully immerse oneself in the PLU community, and what better way than doing so by helping save a life by donating blood?
Kate Sinclair, first-year, will be hosting a blood drive through BloodWorks NW this fall. The blood drive will take place in Red Square on Sept. 23 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. This will be the first ever blood drive through BloodWorks Northwest held on campus.
“I’m interested in reaching out to more people in the medical community,” Kate Sinclair said.
This event helps those in need of blood donations, as well as helping BloodWorks Northwest get more people on their list for future donations since donor’s information will be kept on file. According to the American Red Cross, every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood. By holding this blood drive someone’s life will hopefully be bettered.
This blood drive not only helps people in need of blood donations, but Sinclair will also be given aid in the form of a scholarship. If Sinclair receives 35 donations she will receive $400 and if she receives 50 donations she will receive $500, all of which will be used for educational purposes.
The event will be open to the PLU community and is free. Contact Kate Sinclair at email@example.com for more information.
