Parkland,WA- Imagine this. You are surrounded by your friends on a warm spring night. The air is buzzing and people around you settle into their chairs and blankets on the grass on Foss Field. As the sun goes  down and it gets darker, the screen lights up Finding Dory starts playing. You know it’s going to be a good night. Pacific Lutheran University’s Student Activities Board is throwing a movie night on Foss field to kick off summer and celebrate the end of the semester.

The event will be held on Saturday, May 20, with the showing of Finding Dory. The event starts at 8pm and ends at 10pm. All you need to do is show up with your friends, family, some blankets and lawn chairs ready to have a good time because the Student Activities Board will be providing popcorn for the movie.

The event is open to all of the PLU community as well as the surrounding Parkland community.

The event was created  by Ashley Mindnich, a junior at Pacific Lutheran University and member of Student Activities Board.

“The outdoor movie has been in the making for months,” said Mindnich. “SAB is really excited to finally kick off this event and use it as an opportunity to  expand PLU’s involvement with the Parkland community.”

But what does the Student Activities Board do? They are a leadership development program on campus that facilitates the growth of students through opportunities. Their mission statements lays it out clearly; Pacific Lutheran University’s Student Activities Board Strives to offer students programs and events that engage them socially, academically, and individually, while also intentionally promoting community, collaboration, and creativity amongst the various students and student organizations and clubs.

The Student Activities Board puts on weekly HUMP programming and Late Night programs to help engage the student body and get students involved.
The Student Activities Board has put on events such as selling Sounders tickets to games, the annual Lolla Pluza, homecoming, the involvement fair and many others.

So come down for a stress relief and break from studying for finals and enjoy an outdoor movie with your friends.
