Free Pizza, Crafts, and Social Justice
Enjoy a relaxing night of free food, crafts, and social justice this Sunday, May 14, from 7-9 p.m. before heading into dead week.
“Come de-stress before dead week with us, and feel free to share this with your friends,” event coordinator and Harstad RA Maddie Titelbaum said.
In the Harstad Hall first floor main lounge, the documentary Harvest of Empire will be on the menu, paired with free pizza and free mugs to decorate. And as if free pizza wasn’t enough, Harvest of Empire is a topical, intriguing movie that is set to spark a lively social justice discussion.
The film follows the history of Latinx immigration into the US, and addresses our current state of xenophobia. The night is sure to strike a sweet spot between finals studying and mind-numbing entertainment. Harvest of Empire will help you flex your social justice brain while you fuel your soul with pizza and mug decorating.
Before you stop by, be sure to email Maddie Titelbaum, at firstname.lastname@example.org to claim a mug or to get your questions answered. She’d be happy to help you join in Harstad Hall’s mission for women’s empowerment, gender equity, and social justice.
“We can’t wait to see you all there to celebrate the end of the year and send each other positive energy before dead week,” Titelbaum said.
Harstad Hall is PLU’s oldest building, home to 4 floors of women dedicated to the Harstad Themed Learning Community’s emphasis on Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equity. Harstad Hall’s mission helps its residents and community members explore their intersectional identities and how gender equity and women’s empowerment figure into their daily lives.
