The Annual Berry Festival: 25 Years and Still Ripening
Make a moment and imagine the smell of freshly picked berries and the bittersweet taste of ripe strawberries on your tongue. Well, imagine no more because Pacific Lutheran is making this dream a reality.
Many know that PLU has a long standing tradition known as the Berry Festival but many do not know that this summertime event has been happening for over 25 years.
According to the Centre for Graduate and Continuing Education, the Annual Berry Festivals at PLU is an exciting activity for the Parkland community throughout the summer. The event takes place at PLU on June 15, July 13 and Aug. 3. Each focuses on a summertime fruit and features desserts and free, live entertainment. The fresh fruit are free with a PLU ID, or $2.50 otherwise (cash only), while supplies last.
“The goal of the event is to bring together the PLU Community and the Parkland Community in a monthly summer event on campus,” said Kelley Kohlwes, Assistant Director of Conference and Event Services. “Berry festivals are a great time to invite visitors and prospects to visit because they liven up campus, create a buzz, and provide a presence on campus.”
