Lagerquist was filled with students, faculty, family and friends who traveled to watch the University Wind Ensemble perform March 15.
Directed by Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands, Dr. Edwin Powell, the University Wind Ensemble performed a collection of pieces that exhibited the talents of its players and the passion of its director.
The University Wind Ensemble played a collection of diverse pieces over the course of its performance. Highlights of the concert included the Lutheran hymn “Be Thou My Vision” by David Gillingham and a lively march titled “The Lads of Wamphray” by Percy Grainger.
“[Be Thou My Vision] is one of those pieces that shows just how lush and beautiful a wind ensemble can play,” Powell said. “[The Lads of Wamphray] is a virtuosic, fun piece that leaves everybody going [home] happy,”.
The Wind Ensemble’s performance of their six pieces earned much awe and a great deal of applause.
