Santa Runs Tacoma hits the streets for its sixth annual marathon event
Tacoma, Wash. – The Donner & Blitzen 21K half marathon starts at the State Farm building in Downtown Tacoma on Dec. 13, 2014 at 9 a.m. sharp.
The Tacoma City Marathon Association celebrates its sixth annual year of the Santa Runs Tacoma race. The association invites all participants to don their most festive Christmas costumes and hit the pavement in Downtown Tacoma. Annually, the run/walk event hosts a food drive for FISH Food Banks, where raffle tickets are received for every can or package of food donated.
The Santa Runs Tacoma race isn’t just your average holiday run. In honor of their beneficiary, The Humane Society of Tacoma & Pierce County, the race allows dogs to participate. Prizes are handed out to the best-dressed pooch. Other awards include best-dressed costumes, where the winners receive free registration for next year’s race.
“This is an exciting event to be a part of the Tacoma community with friends and family during the holidays,” said Christine Saylor, a volunteer coordinator for the Tacoma City Marathon Association. “It’s also a great way to celebrate the Christmas season, but do try to stay warm during the run.”
For more information or to register, visit santarunstacoma or tcmaevents for information on other races hosted by Tacoma City Marathon Association.
Tony Phillippi, the Associate/Race Director and two friends started one of the largest marathon running clubs in the world called the Marathon Maniacs in May 2003. The club now has over 7,000 members. In 2006 Phillippi also teamed up with Databar Inc to create Databar Events.
