Hilde Janne Skorpen, the Norwegian consul general to the western most United States, attended Pacific Lutheran University’s symposium last week to introduce PLU symposium speaker Jerry White, a co-recipient of the Noble Peace Prize and now the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State.

Skorpen started her work as the Norwegian consul general in Aug. 2013 in San Francisco, Calif. As the consul general, Skorpen serves as a representative who speaks on behalf of Norway in the United States, keeping what’s best for her country in mind.

After Jerry White’s presentation, Skorpen spoke to LuteTimes about her thoughts on Jerry White and the PLU Symposium in general.

“I thought this was a truly remarkable opportunity to listen to somebody so experienced as Mr. White,” said Skorpen. “It was a very, very inspirational talk.”
