Back in 2010, when “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” was still being implemented in the United States military services, “The Daily Show” interviewed Dr. Dagmar Herzog on her knowledge about the Holocaust and Nazi Germany.
“The Daily Show” correspondent, Jason Jones, spoke to Defend the Family President, Scott Lively, who claimed that “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” should remain intact because Hitler and the Nazis were all homosexuals. Lively told Jones that openly gay men and women are more “brutal and savage” than other soldiers.
After speaking with Lively, Jones sat down with Dr. Dagmar Herzog, a Holocaust studies historian. She told Jones that there is no evidence to support Lively’s claims.
Since her appearance on “The Daily Show” “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” has been repealed.
Dr. Dagmar Herzog will speak at Pacific Lutheran University during Legacies of the Shoah. Her lecture is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Feb. 21.
