Women’s rights most important SOTU topic on Twitter

Topics arranged by number of Tweets.

The State of the Union Address delivered by President Barack Obama on January 28 resulted in a surge in activity on Twitter. According to a study by Pew Research Center, women’s rights, education and employment were the three most talked about topics during the address.

The study counted Tweets which included the words “Obama”, “state” and “union,” or “SOTU.” Out of those, 82,853 included the word “women.”

Topics such as voting rights (3,784), terror (4,850) and mental health (2,883) were among the less talked about topics by Twitter users during the speech.
