The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences—Northwest Chapter announced its scholarship winners today. Storm Gerlock, ’14 from Pacific Lutheran Unviersity was among the college students in the five-state region to be awarded one of this year’s $2,500 scholarships.
Gerlock joins two other students in this year’s honor: one from Washington State University and another from the University of Washington-Bothell.
This highly competitive scholarship is designed for students who demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in the television industry. Storm Gerlock has been associated with PLU’s student television—MastTV– since she first arrived on campus. Just last month she was selected to serve a second term as General Manager of the station.
The NATAS scholarship judges said of Gerlock’s application and interview: “Storm definitely deserves this scholarship for all the TV work she’s already done. She has a real passion for TV and especially that station at PLU.”
Gerlock will receive her scholarship check at the 50th Annual NATAS-Northwest Regional Emmy Awards in Seattle on June 15, 2013.
